WINTOUR’S LEAP I, RIVER WYE
Gesso and acrylic on 300lb cotton paper.
56cm x 76cm
This painting was inspired from a circular walk from Chepstow to Lancault, along the banks of the river Wye. It is in a group of four paintings. This is the first version from Wintour’s Leap.
In this composition I was interested in the feeling of the river carving the interlocking shapes of the cliffs and hills. Towards the end of the painting, I decided all the green needed to be knocked back with transparent white to simplify the composition to form and edges.
